Dog Birthday Cake Recipe

Is your furry best friend's birthday coming up? What's a birthday party without a cake? Celebrate this year's milestone with an easy doggie birthday cake! Simple dog-safe ingredients will allow your fluff ball to indulge in the best part of any birthday party - a delicious slice of homemade cake!

Is Cake Safe For Dogs?

Human cakes filled with sugar and chocolate are definitely not ok for your dog's stomach. As much as we would love to share our favorite treats with our pets, their tiny stomachs are much more sensitive to sugars, fat, and salt. Ingredients like peanut butter, greek yogurt, pumpkin, bananas, and whole wheat flour won't give your pup a birthday tummy ache.

The dog cake we're sharing with you today is packed with good-for-dog ingredients like peanut butter and carrots. We're even teaching you how to make an optional frosting made out of cream cheese.

Without further ado, happy birthday to you, doggo! And yes, the cake is human AND canine friendly!

Delightful Peanut Butter Dog Cake Recipe:

It's time to roll up your sleeves and get in the kitchen. Your pup is waiting for their birthday surprise! We love this recipe because it's not packed with sugar, salt, and other harmful ingredients that could upset your dog's digestive tract.

Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (white flour is highly processed and has no nutritional value)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup peanut butter (go for all-natural if you can)
  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 egg

Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 ultra-ripe banana

Instructions

Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and baking soda.
  3. Add all remaining (wet) ingredients and mix well.
  4. Pour mixture into a small round baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Frosting:

  1. Beat the cream cheese and bananas together using a stand mixer.
  2. Use a spatula or fork to frost the cake.

Tip: Decorate the cake with your pup's favorite treats.

Storing Left Over Cake

Just like your kiddo, you wouldn't let them eat an entire birthday cake in one sitting. Well, the same goes for your furry child. Even though the cake is made with entirely dog-friendly ingredients, we don't recommend giving them the whole thing at once. Cut Fluffy, Max, or (insert your fur baby's name here) a slice and save the rest for another day.

Keep the cake in the fridge to keep it fresh as long as possible. It should last for around a week in the refrigerator in an airtight container. You could also slice the cake and freeze it for when your good boy or girl deserves an extra special treat.
